Friday 12:11am

I went to Bailey’s birthday party tonight. Beth picked me up and drove me home because she got her license yesterday! Her party was fun. We went in her indoor inground hot tub, had pizza, cake and ice cream. Made prank calls of course and just hung out. We also sat by a fire, took pictures. 😊

This morning Meryl, mom and I got our teeth cleaned and then walked over to the mall. We went shopping at a couple stores and bought some clothes. I got to drive halfway home too!

Present day me: It was really fun to go to these birthday parties to make more memories and inside jokes with my friends at that time!

Wednesday 10:59pm

I just got back from Beth’s sweet 16 birthday party! It was just at her house. We had pizza, played air hockey, hung out outside, talked, sang Stacey’s Mom. But instead, it was Beth’s mom. We decorated t shirts and played Never Have I Ever. We did the cupid shuffle, which I now know how to do. We sang songs and danced. I almost lost my breath. We took pictures of course. I could have stayed over but we’re going out of town tomorrow, so I had to come home. Me and Katie were the only ones that didn’t stay over. The people who were there: Tabitha, Rhonda, Delia, Casey, Stacey, Hannah, Grace, Jessica, Becca, Andrea, Bridget, and Bailey. I think that was everyone. Well, that’s about it for now.

Present day me: I remember this birthday party. It was fun! We didn’t get to hang out at Beth’s house very often and when we did it was awesome! She had air hockey, a large basement for dancing and a backyard with a great sledding hill!

Sunday 8:07pm

So, this past weekend was homecoming! Friday was spirit day at school, so everyone dressed up in their school attire and beads. I painted my nails while and purple. They looked so cool. Friday night was the parade and game. We marched in the parade, played Ghost Busters. It ended at the park, and we hung out there, had dinner and got in free at the game. It got really cold, Tabitha and I were freezing. We got hot chocolate, stood in the stands, and danced to the drumline and marching band. Midge hung out with me, Tabitha, and Rhonda. Dad picked me up from the game and I came home to Brenda, Bill, Elaine and John. I did a puzzle with Elaine. Then went to bed. The next morning, we went to the parade for the university and ate lunch at Erbert & Gerbert’s. I got home and got ready for the dance, curled my hair, painted all my nails white and took a few pictures.

Then went over to Erin’s. We get there, take pictures, and then go to Panera. Only me, Rhonda, Tabitha and Erin go to Panera because Hannah went over to Derek’s for dinner. We also went to Coldstone. Then mom picked us up to take us to the dance. We had to wait in line for a bit. The dance was alright. The music wasn’t that good. I got a few pictures. Then left with Erin around 11. I was so tired. And it started raining in Ecuador today. So, I might not go to school tomorrow. 😊

<3 Ava Estelle

Present day me: The term raining in Ecuador meant it was my time of the month. My friends and I would say that to each other, except the country would be different for each person. I like revisiting this entry because it’s about a time in my life where friends were my top priority and we all had fun together.

Saturday 10:08pm

Today we had a massive garage sale. Our family got a total of $394.97! Rhonda came over for the day, too. We walked around the neighborhood, talked about my freshman buddy, and lots of other things. We called Aaron but he was sleeping. So, then Rhonda left, and the sale was pretty much ending so I helped move some more stuff by the street. And we had a bonfire, we got pasta for dinner. And then guess who called me back: Aaron! Haha we only talked for 5 minutes – school, told him we sold our green, nasty chair that we had at the cabin. Spencer had come over to his house, so he had to go. So, I called Rhonda and we talked about getting Aaron to go to homecoming with us. He could bring Tori if he’d want. Yeah, then we got done talking. I went out by the fire, and we listened to the dirty/funny songs I have on my ipod. We did the cha cha slide and I texted with Tabitha and Tori. That’s about it.

G’night!

Present day me: I like this entry to share about a typical Saturday in 2008.

Friday 9:48pm

So today was the football game against both of the high schools, and I couldn’t go. Aunt Bea, Uncle Gill and Preston came to the cabin this weekend. Grr, I was so mad, mom was lenient on it, but dad wasn’t at all.

So yesterday after school right at 3 o’clock I had an interview at Michael’s for a job as a cashier. It lasted an hour, it went really well, I think. I had to fill out a personal survey and that took me like 20 minutes. So, after that I just interviewed by a really nice, laid back lady. Everyone there was really nice and chill. I told her about how much I love scrapbooking and everything in the store. I also shared about the upcoming vacations in January and March. I was planning on going to Wal-Mart to pick up my pictures, but dad said he’d take me today. Did he? No. Another reason why I was pissed at him today.

Anyway, dad picked me up from school today. Took me home and I packed up. Eddie got home and I got to drive to the motel Aunt Bea and Uncle Gill are staying at. We met them there then showed them the way here.

Basically, all we’ve done is give them the tour, talked, ate dinner and Meryl and I went for a walk. Oh! And Eddie took me for a ride on Aaron’s trail. Yeah, pretty much boring here. I wish I could have gone to the game.

G’night.

Present day me: This entry is cathartic as a glimpse of my life when I had to do what my parents wanted me to do, to make the family happy rather than spend time with my friends at the high school football game.

Sunday 8:02pm

Last night was Tabitha’s 15th birthday party. It was so much fun! We all got there around 7. I had made a cake, chocolate. There were 7 of us, Tabitha, Hannah, Rhonda, Bailey, Grace, Maddy and me. So, we just sit around her living room and all talk about stuff. Then at like 8:30 we must go to the grocery store to pick up more smores stuff and drumstix (ice cream cones) so Grace drives all of us in her van! We get to the store and kind of just all split up and get food. We knew this one fat guy who worked there, and he gave them the marshmallows and such. We took video and pictures while Rhonda, Bailey, Tabitha, and Hannah were buying the food. Grace, Maddy and I ran around the store telling everyone “Happy Saturday Night” that we saw. They didn’t like that very much. So, we get back to the cashiers and those four weren’t there so we wait next to the doors for them to come back in looking for us and three guys who look like seniors leave, they’re looking at us. We end up going out there and Grace is like, “They’re probably in the van, I left it unlocked.” Turns out they were. We all pile in and go back to Tabitha’s house. We unpack the drumstix and put in the CD that I made. We listened to the vagina song by the bloodhound gang. Then tried to find the music video on youtube but we found other *ahem* music videos. Then we ate my cake, and put chocolate frosting on our faces, took pictures, danced to the music. Then we kinda chilled out for a bit and played Never Have I Ever, right before Rhonda left. After she left, we all went outside and over to the elementary school nearby to play night games. We walk over to the playground and see three guys playing frisbee in the parking lot. Grace walks over to them and asks to play, then we realized they were the same guys who were at the grocery store. They said they were 22 and 23. We told them our real ages. Then they left, we just stand there on the edge of the grass. Then two guys and a girl come over to us and ask which middle school we went to. We walked away from them; they were smoking something. Grace yells back at them, “we’re from out of town!” they just insulted us while we were walking away. They were following us and then they left. We didn’t want to walk directly to her house, so we just stood by the batting net for a while and talked, then went and walked around her house the long way, in the shadows. We go back in and just sit and talk and chilled. We all went to sleep around 3 and woke up at like 8ish. And I was the last one there, we also had smores for breakfast. It was a really fun party!

Present day me: The town I grew up in had weird people in it. This memory was a fun one to revisit. I remember telling strangers “Happy Saturday Night” and my two new friends finding it so funny and entertaining to do. I felt so cool!

Sunday 8:47pm

Yesterday I had my sweet sixteen birthday party. Paula arrived first around 1. We took our bubbles and went for a walk down the street without our shoes on. Bad idea. The blacktop was so hot, our feet are burning. We walk all the way down to the street just before the county highway. Then we walk back, and we see Tabitha, Catherine and Beth come down the street. They have music cranking. So, we all go down into the back room and have some snacks and talk for a little bit. Paula had blisters on her feet, and I was getting them. So, it’s about 2 o’clock and us 5 kinda chill out, take pictures, talk and just do whatever.

Then around 3:30-4 we see Aaron and Austin walk over to us in the driveway and they’re carrying one of their puppies! We all say hi, and we named the puppy Noah after the guy in The Notebook. Aaron didn’t like the name. But we stood there and talked for like 15 minutes, I guess. Then they leave. We go for another walk and Rhonda shows up. We tell her we had just seen Aaron and his puppy, so we walk over to his house. And when we get there, I told Rhonda to tell Aaron Thank You. AND she gave him a hug! It was good. I laughed so hard. After that we walked back, and Rhonda changed into her dress. We take a few more pictures and then go sit on the deck.

We play the game Never Have I Ever. After a little while the guys and Katie show up. We played a little while longer then went to the front of the house. We did presents and cake and dinner. We took walks in between all that too. And we just pretty much hung out by the firepit. Once it got dark everyone was getting cold, so we changed out of our dresses and into clothes and walked out into the street to play Truth or Dare. The worst er, most interesting thing was Brandon got dared to kiss me on the cheek and he did. Paula was sitting between us, so she leaned back. It was nice, I guess. We played around with the glow sticks I had given everyone, and made smiley faces, staring contests with them around our eyes, spelled words – boobs – and talked about explicit commercials we have seen. After a while we got really cold, so we huddled together.

I was between Brandon and Beth. Brandon was like grinding up against me and Paula and grabbing our butts. It was pretty funny. We kept having to move out of the way for cars, but after one I got to stand in the middle of everyone. I was inside the Circle of Warmth. It was sorta weird. Then it became 10 o’clock and the guys left along with Katie. I wish they didn’t have to leave. So, we go inside and lay down in the loft and talk about the night. Paula thinks me and Brandon would be a good couple…I don’t know…maybe? Rhonda, Tabitha, and I talked about Aaron and me. Rhonda asked me if he asked me out what would I say. I’d say yes, just to see what would happen. Like I obviously don’t like him as much as I did. So, yeah.

I’m actually glad Aaron couldn’t come for the whole time; it would have been awkward. So yeah, I think we finally all fell asleep at like 4am. Half of us wanted to sleep earlier but some of us kept everyone awake. We all woke up at quarter to 10. Went swimming, er skinnydipping! And this time, we had time to swim around naked. I did somersaults and stuff. We used one of the pink rafts to hold our suits. Everyone got naked except Rhonda and Tabitha. They didn’t go swimming. Then we got out and tanned/dried off out in the street. Our favorite place. Took pics, talked, figured out what time everyone was going to get picked up. Then we changed, packed up and they wrote on my board. It was the best birthday party I’ve ever had!

<3 Ava Estelle

Present day me: when we’d go skinnydipping we’d get into the water with our suits on, then remove them under the water and just be naked in the water. We then put our suits back on while in the water before getting out. It was a very freeing experience! This birthday party was the first time a few of my friends visited my cabin. It was a really awesome feeling to have so many people comfortable enough to drive 30 minutes out of town to spend my birthday with me.

Tuesday 10:17pm

Today I rode my bike down to the dog hut to meet Paula. She showed up and we walked over to the park. While we were walking, we heard a band playing, so when we arrived we walked over to the football field to see the concert band of my high school! So, I got to see Hannah, Bridget, Jessica and Erin. Then Paula and I went over by the big slides. We hung out at the playground for a bit. Then walked next to the lake looking for a place to dip our feet. We found one after a while then walked back to her house. We made peanut butter sandwiches with m&m’s and some mountain dew. Then we walked over to the middle school. We sat inside of door 1 and ate and talked for a while. Then we saw the principal get out of his car to come inside so we left. Got back to her house, watched Wayne’s World and then I left.

While we were walking back from the school we were talking about food and earlier I tried pickles dipped in mustard. So combined it’d be pustard!

<3 Ava Estelle

Present day me: lol, pustard. This is a cathartic memory where I was spending one on one time with a friend who went to a different high school than me. I’m really grateful for the friendship we continued with after middle school for a few years.

Monday

Actually, today all I did was read Breaking Dawn. I’m almost done! Umm, so last week on Wednesday I went to Brandon’s 16th Birthday Party. I hung out with Tabitha and Delia. It was a pretty good party. We played wii tennis and went down to this really small park. The girls and Brandon played 500 with a frisbee but instead of yelling numbers he yelled other things like, “free back massage from me.” We went back to his house and sat by a bonfire and had some smores.

So then on Friday I went to the mall with Paula and Rhonda. We went to Charlotte Russe, Younkers, Macy’s, deb and Ragstock. Tried on a bunch of dresses and took pictures. Then Friday night I went to Bridget’s house for some board game olympics. I was on the yellow team with Stacey. Then Delia and Bridget were on the pink team and Bailey was the only one on the green team because Tabitha couldn’t make it at the last minute. So, we played Guess Who, pink team won. Twister, pink team won. Sorry, yellow team was winning then pink won. And they were bragging and boasting. Stacey and I were getting really frustrated. But we kept playing. Catch Phrase, Clue, Apples to Apples – Yellow team won! (only game) and watched the show My Boys. I stayed up til 5 and fell asleep. Bailey slept too, but the other three went outside to walk around the block. I woke up at 8. Bailey had left already. And we played Sorry again, then mom came to pick me up. Some of my night was fun, but overall, it was pointless.

<3 Ava Estelle

Present day me: I enjoy reading about these memories. They were fun times to remember as an adult! Even though board game olympics ended up being a losing streak for my team it’s still a fun concept to maybe try again with my current friends!
