March 3, 2007

Last night I stayed at Tabitha’s mom’s house. (With Courtney too!) it was fun. We played Twister and took pictures, talked, went online, watched Freaky Friday on tv. Then this morning we had our solo/ensemble contest. We got a 1! Which is the best score! We were happy about that. So, when I got home, I had to pack for the cabin. Then mom yelled at me because I got mad at Eddie for not packing the DDR stuff. And, then I wanted to play catch with Eddie, but mom said I couldn’t bring my glove. So I got mad. Then she like pretty much tried to kill me with her effing loud voice, so I just said, “mine as well not go” so she told me to get in the car. I was crying. Why doesn’t my mom want to be my friend?!?!?!?! Jeezus! It’s like she ONLY wants to be my freaking strict CRAZY mother! Then when I treat her like a friend, even a tiny bit, she bites my head off. JEEZ! I am really pissed off at her.

Present day me: I do remember this day, but it was a little fuzzy. Looking back on it through this entry helps me conceptualize the good and the not as good parts of my early teenage years. I remember having so much fun with my friends back then, playing our instruments in band together, playing games at each other’s houses. This was the last year of middle school for us. That was a blast, before we had any real responsibilities. On the other hand, my mother was having another bad day and decided to take it out on me and not on my other siblings because I don’t remember anyone else getting pissed off and crying. I don’t think she even gave me a legitimate reason why I wasn’t allowed to bring my softball glove. Playing catch with Eddie gave us something to bond over and I was good at throwing and catching! It seems like my mom got mad at me because I was mad at Eddie, then decided to just treat me more like dirt and make me feel bad.

Friday, Aunt Ivy and Uncle Charlie surprised us by coming to our house unexpectedly! Mom picked me up at basketball practice with them in the car. I freaked out when I saw Aunt Ivy in the front seat and then Uncle Charlie behind her. So, Saturday we went to the humane society for an hour. We walked a big St. Bernard dog, he was very good! Then three little puppies that were only five months old! Awww! They were so cute! And we went to check out the cats. After that Eddie and Uncle Charlie went up to the cabin to help dad with the remodeling. Then us girls went shopping at Best Buy, Michael’s and Target. We got the game Sequence (Aunt Ivy bought it for us) and I bought The Sweet Escape by Gwen Stefani CD! And some lace to make bracelets out of. Very cool! Then today they went home. And we didn’t go to church. Because mom got stuck and she couldn’t pick us up in time. So, we played DDR, Sequence, went to the sledding hill for like an hour and then came back home. I cleaned and made valentines for Courtney and Tabitha. So, it was a relaxing weekend. I talked to Linda online for a while, too. I almost think she likes me better than Meryl. Probably not though.

Present day me: I remember my aunt and uncle surprising me at school when my mom came to pick me up. I remember getting into the car and being emotional. I kept saying, “That’s not fair!” because I was surprised and really excited to see them! When I was growing up this particular aunt and uncle always took their time to spend with us. It was a fun time with them when I was a child!

February 17, 2007

On Wednesday the 15th Eddie, Mom, Opa, Uncle Pat, Uncle Leroy and Aunt Margot went deep sea fishing. But that day was cold out. The wind was blowing all over and they were in a very small fishing boat. But they caught lots of fish, red snapper, perch, and trigger fish. Those fish were fileted, and we had them for dinner that night. Fed thirteen of us and still had leftovers. They got back around 10:30am (they left at 5:30am) because mom and Uncle Pat both threw up and the others were getting nauseous. The rest of the day we just hung around at the beach, and to me it was kind of an all together boring day.

On Thursday the 16th Nana took all the grandchildren and my mom to the aquarium. Nana ran out of cash, so she had to get money from Eddie. Being Eddie, he gave her all his money. (Don’t worry he gets it all paid back) and the cost for the aquarium came up to $40 USD!!! For 8 people. We walked through the outside with all different kinds of birds flying around us. It was pretty cool. Then we walked inside the building to see all the fish and sea animals.

So, after the aquarium we walked up to Senor Frogs Restaurant. That place was AWESOME! Me, Phoebe, and Meryl got mango drinks then Meredith and Susie got strawberry drinks. Good drinks! When we walked into the restaurant everything was autographed with people’s name and other weird sayings. So that was cool reading all that. Then after we were done eating a guy came around and made each of us a different kind of balloon hat. Me and Phoebe got the same design just different colors. That was a fun place. We did sign one of the pillars that was right by our table, me, Meryl, Eddie, and Phoebe signed it.

After Senor Frogs we walked back to the aquarium because we wanted to see the bird show. It was kind of weird, but okay. After the bird show Nana wanted to see the Sea Lion Show. But there wasn’t another one until 4pm. So, we had 2 hours to spare. We decided to go to the shops down main street. Meryl, Eddie, Phoebe, and I walked down there while the rest took the car. It was fun. We were all in really good moods. So, we shopped and walked around for like the rest of the day. That was the only day of our vacation that we didn’t go in the pool or ocean.

On Friday we all went down to the beach for the last day. The tide was really high and the waves were big. Phoebe and I went swimming in the waves. I got sucked under a couple times, but it was fun. We all just sat on the beach most of the day. Played 3 or 4 games of volleyball with a bunch of people from Canada! Then at 3 o’clock we had to go on a tour of the city (Kind of ridiculous to go on the last day) But it was cancelled. So, we just went out to eat at a place called Lapalapa Del Mar. They had good food. After we ate at 4pm we walked down the main street and looked around. Last night was fun. We fit 9 of us into a 5-person car. Everyone had someone on their lap except the driver, Opa. There were a LOT of Canadians staying at our hotel. We were the only one’s from the Midwest.

Present day me: This trip to Mexico was our third time in Mexico, but our first in Mazatlán. I remember it being the most fun trip because everyone was in good moods. The Senor Frogs experience really has stuck with me throughout these years. I felt so happy to be with my family and to have a good time with them. It felt complete and like a perfect family vacation.

Tuesday – Still in Mazatlán, Mexico

Today we went on a tour to Stone Island. We went on a boat and saw a bunch of rocks (in the ocean) like oceans. I took pictures. Umm, we got off the boat onto Stone Island and we got to choose two activities to do. Most of us chose snorkeling and riding on the banana boats. Some others rode on horses instead of banana boat. Yeah, we went snorkeling and the tour guide said we’d see sea urchins and stingrays and sharks. But we didn’t. We saw NOTHING! The water was murky green, so that was a bust. Everyone kept saying, “You can’t see shit down there” hehe! Then we had lunch, I had chicken and everyone else had like quesadillas and other meats. Pretty good food, after that we went on the banana boats. It was a lot like tubing at the lake but the waves were smaller at the lake. Fun! It’s something that I want to do again soon. So yeah. Now we’re, (Meryl, Eddie and me) are in Meredith and Susie’s room, they’re in bed and the adults are going downstairs to have a drink. So ttyl!

Present day me: I remember this day. It was more exciting and active that our stay at the hotel and just swim in the ocean days. It was fun to do a new water activity that was similar to tubing at the lake at home.

February 12, 2007

Well, we’re in Mazatlan, Mexico. Our second day here has now come to an end. Well mentally I’m kind of going crazy, physically my skin is burnt to a crisp (actually no, I’ve had worse) my forehead hurts, from sunburn and my left upper arm and shoulder are hurting the most. But enough about me complaining. Nobody likes complainers. So…

We got here Saturday the 10th at about noon. And we got to the hotel, The Mayan Sea Garden. We had to wait until 5 o’clock to get our room and went swimming in the pool, explored and went to bed at 8:45! We were dead tired! So yeah.

Then on Sunday, aka yesterday, we woke up at like 7:30am and got our swimming suits on with some nice clothes over them. Because we had to go to this business breakfast so they could sell the adults timeshares or whatever. We sat there for an hour then the kids could escape to go swimming in the pool or ocean. We did both! I LOVE the ocean! Yesterday was pretty much hanging around water. We also played beach volleyball! Oh! I love vball!

Today: we planned to go shopping so everyone except Opa and Uncle Leroy took the two rental cars and we drove them into the town. The two cars got separated because we couldn’t find a parking spot, so I spent the whole morning walking around the central market, (not buying anything) with Phoebe, Meryl, Eddie, Oma and Uncle Pat. Pretty fricken boring morning if you ask me. But we came back to the hotel and ate lunch and went swimming! In the Beautiful Pacific Ocean and the pool that’s beautiful too! And there was a Mexican fiesta we just came back from. Entertainment was there!! They had good food and good entertainment!

(Wow, do I miss my friends) When I first opened this and found my list of friends’ addresses, I almost started crying. Today was the first day I missed school for the whole 8th grade! But oh well. Man, do I miss my dad and my kitties!

<3 Ava Estelle

Present day me: This was one of the more fun trips to Mexico that I remember. It was a struggle travelling with about 13 people though. Usually, good memories were had! My dad didn’t join us on these annual trip so it made us miss him and felt like there was a part of our family missing at times.

FIRST SNOW DAY OF 8TH GRADE!!! YAY!!!! 😊

This past weekend we went down to ktown. Friday night at Oma and Opa’s with Ashley then Saturday night at the…..family friends’ place. Ugh! Gayle had her friend Roberta over when we got there! When we first got there Gayle and Roberta were playing Over the Hedge on PS2 (Which we now have!) And all we did for the first three hours is watch them play that! Linda was at a movie. So yeah. Gayle didn’t look at me or talk to me that first three hours. She was acting like a real snob, too. Jeez I have no clue why she was so “not friendly” to me. But once Linda got home, we played DDR. And that was alright. Sooo yeah. I told Tabitha all about Saturday and I asked her if she would want to come down to their house next time we do there and she said “Yeah, let me know!” So I might have a good time a this place for once!

Ava Estelle <3 Tabitha!

Present day me: This girl, Gayle, is two years younger than me and tended to be a brat towards me when I was at her house. There were other children, our siblings to interact with. Usually all the parents were out in the garage or in the backyard drinking. So, as a 14-year-old girl being bullied by a 12-year-old girl I’d hope that someday when we had to be around each other it wouldn’t be so bad because I could have my own 14-year-old friend along with me. It did help thankfully!

Thursday

I’m sitting in my bed with music on, and my Christmas lights, along with my smiley lamp and the other string lights that are around my room. My cat is laying in front of me. He is the cutest kitten in the freakin world!!! Yeah, well my mom is officially halfway to completely being crazy! She got all mad at me because I didn’t want to sew up the laundry basket bag. It tore so she wanted me to stitch it up. I pretty much said, “I don’t want to,” so she got all pissy at like everyone. It’s like, JEEZ! Take a fricken chill pill mom! So yeah. Meryl started crying because mom yelled at her for always leaving her things downstairs. She came into my room and said “I hate it when mom yells at me like that! I just want to scream in her face I’M SORRY I’M NOT YOUR PERFECT CHILD!” Yeah, when mom talked to me, she yelled at me for not doing the dishes right the first time, and then she just had to bring up my face thing, AGAIN! I thought her nagging at me about cleaning my face was over. But she just wanted something else she could yell at me for. GOD MOM! Give it a fricken REST!

That was my evening.

Present day me: This entry helps me conceptualize how my mom treated us when we were growing up. I think this is a good example of how her temper played a part in our self-worth and how we handled it.

Friday

TODAY FRICKEN SUCKED!!! (except for the volleyball party). Okay well science fourth hour was really effed up! Well, we had to read out of the textbook and take notes. We had to read like 20 pages, and I wanted to take good notes. So, I read the first 2 sections and took like really good notes. Then the bell rang! And we were supposed to be done because there’s a test on Monday! God, I hate my teacher! Then we went to the cabin after the *volleyball party.* I was yelling WHOO-HOO and everyone got mad at me for it. So, I’m sitting in the living room by myself. Well the cat is laying next to me! I love my cat! And at this time, I hate my family.

<3 Always, Ava Estelle

Present day me: I do remember this day. I remember the volleyball party being fun with ice cream and treats. I remember yelling Whoo-hoo around my family and feeling left out because they weren’t on the same energy level as I was. I was fourteen.

October 18, 2006

Today was mom’s birthday. It was kind of a bad day between me and her. Well, this is what went down. I got home from school STARVING to fricken death! OMG! So, I go to get a bowl of cereal to eat. I pour Reese’s puffs into one of those bigger bowls that we have, (pink) and she comes into the kitchen. “You can have a fruit.” By that time, I had already poured the effin cereal, she looked down at the bowl and yelled right into my ear!!!! “THAT’S TWO SERVINGS IN THAT BOWL. YOU SHOULD EAT A FRUIT SO YOU DON’T TURN INTO A FAT PIG!” Yes, she said FAT PIG and that offended me a little. Oh! And she said, “Don’t do this to me on my birthday.” I was all like SHOVE IT MOM! UGH! That was incident #1! The second incident was after we got home from church, there were rice krispie treats on the stove so I ate one (There were only 3 left) I sat down in the living room and Meryl asked mom if we could have cake now. Mom looked at me and said, “Ava can’t have cake because she already has a rice krispie and she told me she was full.” (Okay, FYI mom I can NEVER be full for a rice krispie and Meryl told me to have one). So, I put the last bite into my mouth and told her, “Fine, I’ll go to bed.” I went upstairs and changed. I came back downstairs and made sure I couldn’t have any cake and they said I could, but mom said, “Sorry, but all you told me was how full and tired you were on the way home.” So, I didn’t sing Happy Birthday to her. And then she wished for me to sing to her. So, I just turned around and left. I’d be stuck with eyes looking at me anyway if I stayed. Meryl yelled out, “We love you!” and I yelled back, “I don’t care!” So yeah. Right after I got done brushing my teeth dad yelled up, “Come have some cake,” and I said, “I just got done brushing my teeth.” He left which was sorta surprising. Soo yeah, that was my day and my mom’s birthday.

Present day me: This is one of the very few entries I have about my mom at this age of my life. I usually didn’t write about these types of interactions because I didn’t want to remember it. Now as an adult I am glad I have this entry to look back on and remember. This is evidence of how our interactions were and continued to be for some time into my young adulthood. I decided to include this entry in my writings on here to share about the tumultuous relationship I’ve had with my mother.
