Today is the day before my birthday party. I’ve pretty much cleaned the upstairs. Meryl and Eddie aren’t doing anything to help clean the house. Phoebe is coming tomorrow too. So, we’ve got to get the whole house clean. And just now, Meryl’s friend, was over here with her dog. I brought our new kitten over to meet the dog and the kitten freaked out. He scratched my arm and my face and my lower lip. (I think he might have pee’d on me a little bit too) so now I have a little fat lip. It hurts. I hope it goes away by tomorrow.

And (of course) mom came home from Meryl’s physical today and was soooo crabby. She walked up the stairs and started clapping her hands (And I was on the computer) so she yelled at me to go outside….

Mrs. Willow just called me. She’s going for her daughter’s orientation at the middle school I used to go to. She wanted to call me to see how I was doing. And now that I’m off the phone with her I’m crying. Because hearing her voice reminded me so much of confirmation and 8th grade and middle school. I really miss it all. A lot at the moment. Now I kind of know what everyone felt like on the last day of middle school. ☹ I’m really glad she called though.

Present day me: This was a touching entry for me to revisit. The interaction of a kitten clawing at my face when scared of a dog, my mom being crabby and yelling at me to get outside (since being inside all day was looked at as being lazy, especially if I was on the computer) and lastly and kind phone call from a woman who I looked up to and cherished. That was very comforting but also emotional! This peek into the year of 2007 for me has been cathartic.

Today was the Sunday I was supposed to go to the nursery at church, but there were already people signed up for it. So I just went to Sunday School. Then we got home and ate lunch. Then me, Meryl and mom went to the humane society for 2 hours! We hung out with all the kitties and in the big cat room a lot of them were sick or one of them was breathing kind of weird. So, that was kind of sad. But after that we got home and Eddie, Meryl and I went for a BIKE RIDE!!! It felt awesome!!!

Present day me: This was my 8th grade year, and I was also working towards becoming confirmed with other kids my age at the time. So, the requirements for confirmation were many! One of them was volunteering within the church for a set number of hours. I had experience working in the nursery with my mom so I tried to do that as my hours when I could. Also, bike rides on a nice day at that age are so precious and nostalgic.

Friday, Aunt Ivy and Uncle Charlie surprised us by coming to our house unexpectedly! Mom picked me up at basketball practice with them in the car. I freaked out when I saw Aunt Ivy in the front seat and then Uncle Charlie behind her. So, Saturday we went to the humane society for an hour. We walked a big St. Bernard dog, he was very good! Then three little puppies that were only five months old! Awww! They were so cute! And we went to check out the cats. After that Eddie and Uncle Charlie went up to the cabin to help dad with the remodeling. Then us girls went shopping at Best Buy, Michael’s and Target. We got the game Sequence (Aunt Ivy bought it for us) and I bought The Sweet Escape by Gwen Stefani CD! And some lace to make bracelets out of. Very cool! Then today they went home. And we didn’t go to church. Because mom got stuck and she couldn’t pick us up in time. So, we played DDR, Sequence, went to the sledding hill for like an hour and then came back home. I cleaned and made valentines for Courtney and Tabitha. So, it was a relaxing weekend. I talked to Linda online for a while, too. I almost think she likes me better than Meryl. Probably not though.

Present day me: I remember my aunt and uncle surprising me at school when my mom came to pick me up. I remember getting into the car and being emotional. I kept saying, “That’s not fair!” because I was surprised and really excited to see them! When I was growing up this particular aunt and uncle always took their time to spend with us. It was a fun time with them when I was a child!
